LOCAL Government Minister Daniel Garwe has warned that government will move against illegal settlers and those parcelling out communal land through so-called “sabhuku deals”.
Garwe read the riot act to chiefs, headmen and village heads in Chikomba, warning traditional leaders and other land barons selling agricultural and grazing land for residential stands that they risk facing the full force of the law.
There was jubilation at the council hall as villagers and traditional leaders welcomed Garwe’s tough stance, saying illegal land sales have become a growing threat to rural livelihoods.-newsday
