NEDBANK Zimbabwe today officially commenced construction of its new headquarters in Highlands, Harare, in a move that underscores the financial institution’s long-term confidence in Zimbabwe and commitment to supporting the country’s economic development.
The new headquarters, located opposite Highland Park Shopping Centre along ED Mnangagwa Road, is expected to serve as a centre of excellence for the bank, enhancing operational efficiency, driving innovation and strengthening the delivery of banking solutions as Zimbabwe’s financial services sector continues to evolve.
Nedbank Zimbabwe chairman Innocent Dutiro said the development represented far more than the construction of a new building, describing it as a clear expression of confidence in Zimbabwe and the bank’s enduring commitment to its clients, employees and communities.
He said the investment reflected Nedbank Zimbabwe’s determination to build a stronger, more resilient institution capable of serving future generations of customers while contributing to the country’s broader economic aspirations.
“Today is more than the commencement of a construction project. It is a visible statement of confidence in Zimbabwe, a commitment to our clients and communities, and a testament to Nedbank’s belief in the immense potential of this nation and its people,” Mr Dutiro said.
He said the groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of a new chapter for Nedbank Zimbabwe as the institution positioned itself to grow in tandem with the Zimbabwean economy.
Adding that the investment highlights the wider Nedbank Group’s long-term commitment to Zimbabwe.
He also noted that banks have a vital role to play in mobilising capital, supporting productive sectors, fostering entrepreneurship and creating opportunities that enhance livelihoods.
“Nedbank Zimbabwe remains committed to partnering with the Govement, regulators, businesses and communities in advancing Zimbabwe’s development agenda,” Mr Dutiro said.
Mr Dutiro commended Nedbank Zimbabwe’s management team for driving the bank’s strategic vision and positioning the institution for sustained growth.
The project comes at a time when Zimbabwe is seeking to attract increased private-sector investment to stimulate economic growth, accelerate infrastructure development and create employment opportunities.
The ceremony was attended by senior Govement officials, central bank representatives and key figures from the banking sector as Nedbank Zimbabwe formally launched a project that is set to become the centre of its future operations.-herald
