The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority will auction a wide range of seized and forfeited goods in Bulawayo, including clothing, footwear, handbags, electronics, household items and business equipment.
The auction, conducted with ABC Auctions, will be open for viewing Sept. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Zimra Bulawayo Container Depot. Other lots are held at the Zimra Gwanda State Warehouse and other Zimra facilities.
The catalogue includes goods payable in either United States dollars or Zimbabwe Gold, depending on the lot.
The merchandise ranges from clothing, footwear and bags to laptops, cellphones, solar lights, sound equipment, furniture, stationery and household goods.
Several lots contain substantial quantities, including 300 T-shirts, 150 satchels, 116 girls’ dresses, 102 pairs of footwear, 95 packs of snuff and 192 containers of shoe polish.
The sale also includes industrial and packaging materials such as barbed and mesh wire, strapping coils and plastic packaging, as well as office supplies and assorted consumer goods.
Among the more unusual items are brass ornamental flowerpots and stands, toys, toy cars and toy guns.
Zimra said lots could be adjusted, withdrawn or added before the auction.
“Lots are subject to adjustment, withdrawal, or addition at ZIMRA’s discretion,” the notice states.
Buyers must pay in the currency specified for each lot. Where payment is required in U.S. dollars, buyers may settle in ZiG in accordance with Zimra regulations, the authority said.
ABC Auctions requires successful bidders to pay within 48 hours and collect their goods within 48 hours of payment. Storage charges apply for delayed collection.
Bidders can participate through ABC Auctions’ online platform, with deposits available to increase bidding limits where necessary.
The sale forms part of Zimra’s ongoing disposal of seized, forfeited or otherwise held goods.
Another auction is scheduled for later this month, according to the auction notice.-newsday
