THE Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) has commended the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair 2026 (ZITF) for its growing strategic importance in driving the country’s industrialisation and trade integration agenda.
ZNCC Matabeleland regional manager Mr Mduduzi Ncube said this year’s edition, held under the theme “Connected Economies, Competitive Industries,” aptly reflects the direction Zimbabwe must take to strengthen its economic position both regionally and globally.
He said the theme speaks to the urgent need for deeper economic integration, enhanced supply chain linkages and the development of competitive industries anchored on innovation and modern technologies.
“The focus on connected economies highlights the importance of collaboration across borders and sectors, while competitive industries emphasise value addition and productivity as key drivers of sustainable growth,” said Mr Ncube.
He noted that the 2026 edition of ZITF had recorded remarkable success, as evidenced by the high level of participation from both local and international exhibitors and the near-full occupation of exhibition space.
Mr Ncube said the strong turnout is a clear indication of renewed business confidence in Zimbabwe’s economic prospects and the continued relevance of ZITF as the country’s premier trade showcase.
“This year’s fair has attracted a diverse mix of global partners, investors and industry leaders, creating a vibrant environment for engagement, deal-making and knowledge exchange. This is critical in unlocking new opportunities for local businesses,” he said.
Mr Ncube added that the fair is playing a pivotal role in facilitating meaningful connections between businesses and potential investors, while also promoting dialogue that is essential for economic growth.
He said the benefits of ZITF are already being felt in Bulawayo, where increased activity in sectors such as hospitality, transport and retail has been recorded due to the influx of visitors.
“Beyond the immediate economic gains, the fair reinforces Bulawayo’s position as the country’s industrial hub and enhances its visibility as a destination for investment,” said Mr Ncube.
He further highlighted that ZITF provides a critical platform for businesses in the Matabeleland region, particularly small and medium enterprises, to showcase their products, establish partnerships and integrate into larger value chains.
Mr Ncube said the exhibition is also strengthening cross-border trade linkages, positioning the region as an important gateway for regional commerce.
At a national level, Mr Ncube said ZITF continues to contribute significantly to Zimbabwe’s economic agenda by attracting foreign direct investment, promoting exports and fostering international co-operation.
He said the platform brings together policymakers, business leaders and international stakeholders, creating opportunities for partnerships that support long-term economic development.
“As Zimbabwe pursues industrialisation and economic transformation, platforms such as ZITF remain critical in driving growth, creating jobs and enhancing the competitiveness of local industries,” he said.
Mr Ncube said the continued success of the exhibition underscores its role as a strategic instrument for economic transformation and regional integration, adding that sustained collaboration between industry players will be key to maximising its impact.-herald
