RBZ Denies Fuel Price Increase Reports

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) yesterday dismissed reports circulating on social media that fuel prices will increase. The reports claimed that fuel industry stakeholders and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) met and agreed to increase the price of petrol to $5,50 from $3,30 and of diesel to $5,15 from $3,10. In a statement on Twitter,

RBZ said the reports are fake. Said RBZ: The article circulating on social media on the fuel price hikes of $5.50 and $5.15 for petrol and diesel respectively, is fake news. For starters the alleged meeting at the RBZ with fuel suppliers never took place.

The social media article is aimed at causing panic buying of fuel and should be treated with the contempt it deserves.–pindula.co.zw
