Dinson back online after 2-month shutdown

DINSON Iron and Steel Company has resumed full operations following a scheduled shutdown for maintenance and system upgrades, marking a key step in strengthening its production capacity and market competitiveness.

The steel producer said operations were restarted on November 3, 2025, after operations were halted on September 11, 2025.

Dinson chief executive officer, Mr Benson Xu, expressed gratitude to staff for patience, professionalism, and dedication during the shutdown period, which the company described as essential to achieving long‑term operational efficiency.

“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all our employees for their patience, professionalism, and dedication throughout the shutdown period.

“We are delighted to confirm that all staff have returned to their respective workstations in good health and high spirits all resumed work with renewed energy and commitment,” Mr Xu said.

In another development, Dinson revealed that it had secured certification from the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), confirming that its rebars now comply with the South African National Standard SANS 920:2011 for concrete reinforcement steel.

This certification opens up stronger opportunities for regional market penetration, particularly in South Africa’s high-demand construction and infrastructure sectors.

Dinson also attained ISO 9001:2015 certification from the Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ), further reinforcing its internal systems and product quality controls.

The company’s steel bars have additionally been approved to use the SAZ standards mark after passing domestic quality tests.

Dinson said the combination of SABS and SAZ certifications showed its commitment to consistent product reliability, robust manufacturing systems, continuous improvement, and adherence to global best practices.

The recognitions are expected to enhance customer confidence and position the company as a dependable regional supplier.

“These milestones strengthen our position as a trusted industrial partner in Zimbabwe and across the region,” Mr Xu said.

In line with its growth strategy, the company has commenced production of steel balls and wire rods, expanding its product portfolio and supporting Zimbabwe’s ambitions to deepen value addition in the steel industry.

The new product lines are expected to stimulate downstream manufacturing activities and create additional investment opportunities for other industry players.

Dinson said it remains committed to serving as Zimbabwe’s flagship industrial development hub and a key driver of the national economic transformation agenda.
