Zim consumer rights watchdog says devolution to improve access to services

THE Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) says the devolution of its services across Zimbabwe’s 10 provinces will significantly enhance consumer rights and protection.

CPC recently said the devolution would bring several key benefits, including improved access to services.

Responding to questions from this publication, CPC director public relations manager Mr Kudakwashe Mudereri said having offices in each province ensures consumers easy access to services and support.

He said localised presence will empower more citizens to report grievances and seek assistance.

“The establishment of the CPC in all provinces signifies a commitment to improving consumer rights and protection in Zimbabwe in line with the mantra of leaving no one and no place behind,” said Mr Mudereri.

“We are excited about the opportunities this presents for fostering a more empowered and informed consumer base, contributing to a fairer marketplace for all, ultimately, Vision 2030.”

Mr Mudereri said this brings tailored solutions, given that different regions face unique consumer issues.

By devolving, CPC said its representatives will become familiar with local markets and consumer behaviours, helping ensure strategies that specifically address the needs and challenges of each province.-herald
