TN CyberTech Bank plans to roll out a WhatsApp platform and virtual prepaid Visa cards as it moves to integrate banking into people’s everyday lives, the parent company has said.
The system is expected to make the bank one of the few lenders that are digitising all its platforms, becoming a technologically-driven bank in the country.
TN CyberTech Investments Holdings Limited chief executive officer, Tawanda Nyambirai, told NewsDay Business the bank was working on integrating the WhatsApp platform into its OMNI channel that will facilitate easier banking for its clients.
The group owns TN CyberTech Bank.
“The WhatsApp platform will sit on our OMNI channel, integrated into our core banking system. Through WhatsApp, users will be able to check balances, transfer funds, pay bills, buy airtime, open accounts, and access various account services easily, securely and seamlessly, without noticing any changes in the systems used to deliver the service,” Nyambirai said.
Nyambirai said the company was working to remove the physical card issuance by helping customers enjoy online banking, as digital banking has become the new norm.
“Regarding Digitalised Visa card issuance, we are introducing virtual prepaid Visa cards that can be instantly generated and activated through our digital channels. This removes the need for physical card issuance, enabling customers to make secure online and in-app payments globally,” he said.
“The virtual card solution enhances convenience, promotes financial inclusion, and supports both individuals and SMEs in participating more fully in the digital economy.”
Nyambirai said the banking platform was in its initial stages, with evaluation of the process being done to come up with ways to reduce the cost of remittances.
“It is still early days to disclose much on our automated remittance services. Our innovation team is still evaluating potential partners and reviewing options to reduce the cost of remittances,” he said.
“Overall, our goal is to simplify the customer experience, deepen financial inclusion, and ensure that TN CyberTech continues to lead in providing secure, innovative and customer-centric digital financial solutions in Zimbabwe.”
In the second half of the year, the bank will deepen partnerships with corporates in the mining, agriculture and manufacturing sectors to further strengthen its loan book and funded income base, Nyambirai said.-newsda
