Zimbabwe’s Osaka expo participation receives boost
ZIMBABWE’S participation at the global Osaka 2025 Expo in Japan has received a boost after organisers approved an application for the pavilion to host the Zimbabwe National Day and Voluntary Event.
The two events that will also coincide with a Business Forum are set for Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
Participants at a recently held two-day National Multi-Stakeholder Conference on the preparations for the Expo 2025 Osaka convened to gather stakeholders’ inputs into the planning process head that the National Day celebrations are moments that are set aside to celebrate each international participant at a world exposition.
Giving an update, a representative from the National Day Committee, Mr Napoleon Nyanhi said the celebrations shine a light on the country’s culture and achievements and showcase the pavilions and their various programmes.
“The Zimbabwe National Day and Voluntary Event has therefore been set for Wednesday, July 16, 2025 after our application was approved by the Expo Organisers. The National Day will be a significant day where Zimbabwe will raise its flag high during the OSAKA Expo, hence its curation is aimed at making Zimbabwe more visible at this international arena,” said Mr Nyanhi.
He said the curation of the National Day aims at exploring Zimbabwe’s position in the future of mankind, embracing diversity, and pushing the limits to create a better world where possibilities are endless, he added.
Dress Code for the National Day for all shall be the National Fabric.
The six-month-long Expo set to attract 28,3 million visitors with over 150 countries having confirmed participation will be held from April 13 to October 13, 2025, under the theme, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”.
Zimbabwe is participating in Expo 2025 Osaka under the Connecting Lives Zone and will exhibit under the national theme “Beyond the Limit.”
Expo 2025 Osaka presents an unparalleled opportunity for Zimbabwe to showcase its cultural heritage, economic potential, and investment opportunities on an international stage.
He added that a stand-alone Business Forum will be held on the same day of the National Day.
It will focus on discussing futuristic ideas and innovations in society, with a specific emphasis on how Zimbabwe can position itself as a contributor to these advancements.
“ Topics need to be aligned to the country and Expo theme and may include topics such as the circular economy, the impact of AI on developing economies and how they can leapfrog into the future, sustainable development, technology, entrepreneurship and investment opportunities in Zimbabwe.
“Key industry leaders from Zimbabwe, Africa and the developed world, entrepreneurs and visionaries will be invited to participate in panel discussions and give keynote speeches and networking sessions. Industry experts and Government representatives will also present trade, investment and tourism prospects as well as share information on economic policies, and incentives.”
During the exhibition, a Business Forum would be held to showcase Zimbabwe’s investment, trade and tourism opportunities and position the country as the most favourable destination for doing business in Africa.-chroncile
