Zimbabwe engages South African automotive giants for local industry boost
THE Ministry of Industry and Commerce today welcomed a high-profile South African delegation representing the African Association of Automotive Manufacturers (AAAM) and the Motor Industry Association of Zimbabwe (MIAZ) to assess industry needs and explore potential investments in Zimbabwe’s automotive sector.
In a statement on X, the ministry described the visit as a strategic opportunity for Zimbabwe’s local industry to establish partnerships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), who are members of the AAAM.
“Today, Industry and Commerce Minister Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndhlovu received a South African delegation representing the AAAM and MIAZ,” read the post.
“As part of the discussions, the parties addressed the need to conduct a needs assessment and explore investment opportunities within the local automotive industry.”
The visit aligns with the Government’s broader vision to promote local production, enhance industrialisation, and drive economic growth.
With the local automotive industry seeking expansion and development, partnerships with key international players could pave the way for increased production, job creation, and a stronger manufacturing base in Zimbabwe.
