Zim, Japan unveil Osaka Expo 2025 logo
THE governments of Zimbabwe and Japan have unveiled a new logo to be used by ZimTrade at the Osaka Expo 2025 to facilitate trade relations between the two countries.
Zimbabwe will participate at the expo under the theme Beyond Limit.
Speaking during the unveiling event last week, Foreign Affairs and International Trade minister Fredrick Shava said the logo was a symbol of “our collective strength and boundless potential”.
He said: “It is, indeed, my distinct honour to walk with you on this journey of celebration and pride, which heralds a milestone event that will resonate far beyond this particular moment.
“And today (Thursday), we unveil not just a logo, but also a beacon of hope, a testament to our resilience, and a running flag for a brighter future that is consistent with our national Vision 2030.
“(Yet) its vibrant colours, bold design, serve as a constant reminder of our nation’s resilience, our nation’s innovation, our nation’s inclusivity, and boundless potential. Together, let us embrace the opportunities that lie ahead and unite in our commitment to go beyond the limit and shape a future filled with prosperity, unity and hope.”
He said the upgrading of the logo was the beginning of an extraordinary journey, which should be embraced by the generations to come.
Permanent secretary in the Information ministry, Ndavaningi Mangwana said the logo represented Zimbabwe.
“It is a logo which even if you don’t see where it’s written Zimbabwe, you will know that it’s a Zimbabwean logo. That logo speaks to our culture. It speaks of our traditions. It speaks of our identity as a people,” Mangwana said.
Japan ambassador to Zimbabwe Yamanaka Shinichi noted that the Osaka 2025 Expo is a great platform for Zimbabwe to showcase its economic business and tourism potential to the world.
“It will be a great platform for Zimbabwe to showcase its economic, business and tourism potential to the world. As regards sharing ideas, showcasing solutions and forging new partnerships,” he said.
[It is a scene of designing future society of our lives. It is also the opportunity to contribute to the collective dialogue of time and shaping a better future for all. It will be another great opportunity for Zimbabwe to attract investors. Let us work with optimism and enthusiasm to be successful in participation where Zimbabwe’s pavilion will shine on the world stage. ”
ZimTrade CEO Alan Majuru described the logo as a representation of Zimbabwe’s culture, adding that it would be used to showcase the country’s diversity.
“This is a stage where we like to share our experiences, tell our story, our goal is to make sure that people who visit our pavilion will have an experience that they will not forget about our culture and opportunities that are there in Zimbabwe,” Majuru said.
The winner of the competition to design the logo was Simangaliso Sibanda, who won a trip to Japan with all expenses paid.
According to Mangwana, about 189 participants submitted their works and Sibanda emerged the winner and Nicole Njanjari was the runner up.-newsday
