Varun Beverages records surge in product demand

GIANT soft-drink manufacturer, Varun Beverages, has reported growing demand for its products in the market, including the newly launched Aquaclear bottled water, due to good quality and affordable prices.

The second largest franchise bottler of PepsiCo, with presence in many Asian and African countries, said in a press statement yesterday that it was buoyed by the continuing spike in market consumption patterns.

Following the acquisition of a new production line with sufficient capacity to produce Aquaclear bottled water and the Soul Sip cordials, Varun says it is confident of adequate supplies to cater for the summer and the festive season with no shortages.

Varun Beverages Zimbabwe vice president, Mr Fungai Murahwa, said the 330ml can, which is usually sold at a premium price, will now be sold at a recommended retail price (RRP) of $40, which is the same price as 500ml Pepsi plastic bottle.

He said the can flavours were also available in Pepsi, Mirinda, Mountain Dew and 7UP varieties. The 440ml cans are affordably priced at $55.

“The multi-serve one litre bottle has been priced at $70 to ensure value and convenience to families for home consumption. The consumer can now buy two by one litre bottles for only $140 or take home three litres of their favourite flavours for only $210,” said Mr Murahwa.

“In addition to the attractive pricing and variety of flavours, the one-litre bottle is designed to easily fit into the door panel of a standard domestic fridge.”

He added that Pepsi, Mirinda Orange, Mirinda fruity, 7UP, Mountain Dew or Pepsi Light were also available in two litre bottles sizes at $135 per bottle.

Mr Murahwa said plans were underway to make available push-carts in rural areas to ensure availability of its products and to also create employment for the people.

“There are plans to add 1 000 more push-carts to make the Varun Beverages products readily available in remote villages, rural and small population areas. This move will also create employment and enable availability of affordable, world class products in the remote markets of Zimbabwe,” he said.

“The customer centric pricing and wide range of flavours will ensure that everyone is spoilt for choice throughout the summer, into the festive season and beyond.

“In addition, the consumer can also enjoy maximum value from promotions on cans in selected outlets,” said Mr Murahwa.-chronicle.cl.zw
