Simbisa to open new branch in ChiTown
QUICK service restaurant Simbisa Brands Limited is set to open a new branch in Chitungwiza as part of its strategic plans to expand on the domestic market, NewsDay Business can reveal.
This comes after the company has embarked on a strategic plan to expand its brands locally and beyond the borders in countries such as Kenya, Namibia and Ghana, among others.
The news was revealed by Chicken Inn general manager David Kanengoni at the official opening of a new complex that houses the fast-food company’s brands Chicken Inn, Creamy Inn, Pizza Inn, Ocean Basket and Roco Mama’s.
The complex was opened over the weekend in Avondale.
“We have got another upcoming project in Chitungwiza, (Redan Service Station at C Junction) which is going to open in the next couple of weeks. Then we will advise you of all the other new projects that are coming,” Kanengoni said in an interview with NewsDay Business at the opening of the Avondale complex.
“The new project will be different from this one (Avondale Chicken Inn branch). There will be a service station and then you will have a chicken and rice booth and then a pizza inn all there.”
The paper understands that hundreds of millions of dollars in capex has been set aside for the expansion of Simbisa’s brands.
Pizza Inn and Cream Inn general manager Thabani Banda said the company had injected huge amounts of money in the building of the Avondale complex which took between five to six months to be completed.
“Well, I will not know the exact value of how much money that has been injected, but as you can see from this state-of-the-art building it’s a huge, huge investment that has gone into this,” he said.
“Not only the investment, but also, remember, we pride ourselves that we employ within the communities that we came in, so this is not just an investment. To be transparent, it is an investment for the community, an investment for the country at large in terms of employment, security and making sure that our staff members work for us.”Apart from the new complex in Avondale, the company opened two new drive-thru branches, one in Masasa and the other in Donnybrook, in the country’s capital.-newsday
