Sadc Industrialisation Week kicks off in Harare ahead of regional summit

HARARE, ZIMBABWE – THE 7th Sadc Industrialisation Week (SIW) has kicked off at the Harare International Conference Centre, running under the theme “Promoting Innovation to Unlock Opportunities for Sustainable Economic Growth and Development Towards an Industrialised Sadc.”

SIW is the precursor to the 44th Sadc Heads of State and Government Summit, set to be held on August 17 in Harare.
At the summit, President Emmerson Mnangagwa will assume the Chairmanship of the regional Southern African Development Community (SADC) bloc.

The week-long SIW event brings together government officials, business leaders, and industry stakeholders from across the Sadc region to discuss strategies for driving industrialisation and economic development.

Key priorities include promoting innovation, unlocking new opportunities, and working towards a more industrialised and prosperous Southern Africa.

The discussions and outcomes from SIW are expected to help shape the agenda and priorities for President Mnangagwa’s upcoming Sadc Chairmanship, as the region grapples with the dual challenges of post-pandemic recovery and long-term sustainable growth.
