Proplastics CEO steps down, financial director takes interim role

Proplastics Limited has announced the resignation of its chief executive officer, Kudakwashe Leo Chigiya, effective 19 February 2025.

Chigiya, who has led the company with dedication, leaves after making significant contributions to its growth and success, according to a statement released by the company.

“The board expresses its sincere gratitude for Kudakwashe’s invaluable contributions to Proplastics. His leadership has played a key role in shaping the company’s strategic direction, and we wish him every success in his future endeavors,” said company secretary Angeline Mudada.

In the interim, the company’s financial director, Paschal Changunda, has been appointed as acting chief executive officer while the search for a permanent replacement is underway. Changunda, an experienced executive within the company, is expected to ensure continuity in operations during the transition.

This leadership change has been formally communicated to stakeholders in compliance with the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) Listing Rules and will be reflected in the company’s forthcoming publications.

The resignation of Chigiya comes at a critical time for Proplastics, a leading manufacturer in Zimbabwe’s plastic industry. As the company navigates evolving market dynamics, industry players will be watching closely to see how the leadership transition unfolds.

For now, the company remains focused on maintaining its strategic course under Changunda’s stewardship.

“Proplastics remains committed to delivering value to its stakeholders during this transition period,” Mudada added.

The board has not indicated a timeline for appointing a permanent chief executive officer, but industry analysts anticipate that Proplastics will seek a candidate with a strong background in manufacturing and strategic growth to continue driving the company forward.-ebsinessweekl
