Profiling the ZSE Top Ten Index Constituents: Simbisa Brands Limited

In this week’s column, the ZSE is profiling Simbisa Brands Limited as a constituent of the ZSE Top 10 Index. Prices and capitalisation figures are as at 3 May 2022.


Simbisa Brands Limited is the largest fast-food restaurant operator in Zimbabwe The company was born after Innscor Africa Limited unbundled its quick service restaurant business into a new ZSE-listed vehicle and was given the shona name Simbisa which means to “strengthen.”


The company owns, operates and franchises a selection of well-known Quick Service Restaurant brands.

These include Pizza Inn and Chicken Inn, and Nandos and Steers of South Africa.


Simbisa Brands Limited has an extensive footprint in Africa, with outlets in Zimbabwe and 10 African countries including Kenya, Ghana, Mauritius, Botswana, DRC, Malawi, Swaziland, Lesotho and Zambia.
Simbisa is currently ranked number five on the ZSE by market capitalisation as at 03 May
2022 with a market size of $180 billion.


The counter has recorded capital gains of 257percent on a year to date basis to close at $321.6531 per share as at 4 May 2022. Simbisa is amongst the top four traded counters on ZSE with a total turnover of $2,3 billion.


The number of shares which exchanged hands during this time was 11 million shares.
