President to headline inaugural NECF summit

PRESIDENT Mnangagwa is expected to officiate at the inaugural Infrastructure Summit organised by the National Economic Consultative Forum (NECF) in Victoria Falls tomorrow.

The event brings together various players in the country’s infrastructure development sector and comes as the Second Republic is working hard towards economic transformation through developments in key sectors such as infrastructure development, manufacturing, agriculture and mining.

“The National Economic Consultative Forum will be hosting the inaugural summit on 8
and 9 September 2022 in Victoria Falls,” said NECF in a statement.

“His Excellency the President of Zimbabwe Cde Mnangagwa has been invited to be the
guest of honour at this important event, which will be held under the theme: ‘Harnessing
the potential of public-private-partnership to resolve infrastructure challenges in
Zimbabwe”.

Among the key delegates expected to attend will be Government executives, business
leaders, academia, labour, civil society and development partners.

The high-level event seeks to discuss and come up with actionable recommendations to
fill infrastructure gaps in the country.

The Bulawayo City Council has expressed readiness to attend the conference and hopes to
benefit from its outcomes.

Town Clerk, Mr Christopher Dube said their attendance at the summit was critical as it
buttresses NDS1 ideals for local authorities who are expected to drive infrastructure
development in their corporate strategies.

“It would be easier for council to relate and do proper implementation when it is time to
do corporate strategy,” said Mr Dube. —chronicleodzw
