Pacific to prioritise investment in innovation
PACIFIC Cigarette Company (PCC) says it will continue prioritising investment in innovation and advanced technology, as the firm celebrates 21 years of doing business in the country.
Over the years, smokers have been moving away from traditional sticks to “vapes”, which despite not containing tobacco, contain nicotine from the golden leaf.
In a statement celebrating its 21st anniversary, PCC said it was committed to prioritising investment, research and development.
“As Pacific Cigarette Company commemorates its 21st anniversary, it continues to prioritise investment in innovation and advanced technology. By staying ahead of industry trends and consumer preferences, the company remains at the forefront of providing exceptional tobacco products that meet evolving market demands,” PCC said.
“Furthermore, its commitment to research and development in sustainable packaging and reduced environmental impact positions Pacific Cigarette Company as a responsible industry leader pioneering positive change.”
The company said it had a significant impact on the nation’s economy through fair trade practices and contributing to the growth of the agricultural sector.
“The company’s presence in Zimbabwe’s tobacco industry has had a significant impact on the nation’s economy,” PCC noted.
“By employing a large workforce and actively contributing to the overall growth of the agricultural sector, the company aids in job creation and uplifts the living standards of countless individuals.”
The firm pledged its commitment to fair trade practices, including offering competitive prices to tobacco farmers.
“Pacific Cigarette Company has not only excelled in producing top-tier tobacco products but has also become a beacon of sustainable practices in the industry,” PCC said.
“Emphasising environmental responsibility, the company has introduced modern farming techniques and invested in research and development to ensure the preservation of Zimbabwe’s rich tobacco heritage.”
The cigarette maker added that these efforts not only protected the environment, but also enhanced the livelihoods of local farmers and communities, contributing to the overall development of the nation’s agricultural sector.
The company, however, indicated that it has been affected by the slowing down of the economy and counterfeit cigarettes.-newsday
