THE Institute of Directors Zimbabwe (IoDZ) has launched a Bulawayo chapter as it expands its footprint to the country’s second largest city.

Speaking during the launch last week, IoDZ operations director Hatred Mandungumana said the chapter will create opportunities for dialogue and collaboration.

“Since its inception, the IoDZ has been dedicated to promoting good corporate governance, enhancing boardroom performance and strengthening the role of directors across various sectors in our nation,” Mandungumana said.

He said the establishment of the Bulawayo chapter marks a milestone in their ongoing journey.

“Bulawayo, with its rich history and dynamic business environment, has always played a pivotal role in the economic and social fabric of Zimbabwe. By extending our reach to this vibrant city, we aim to cultivate a robust network of directors, facilitate professional development and create opportunities for meaningful dialogue and collaboration,” Mandungumana said.

The chapter will conduct training programmes and networking events in the city to support directors.

“Our collective efforts will ensure that the principles of good governance continue to thrive and drive sustainable growth for our organisations and communities,’’ he said.

Industry and Commerce deputy minister Raj Modi said effective corporate governance was vital for sustainable business success and economic prosperity.

“I applaud the IoDZ for walking the talk and making their statement a reality,” he said.

“We really appreciate the establishment of the chapter since this demonstrates IoDZ complements to supporting business and directors in this region through providing a platform of knowledge sharing and professional development.”

IoDZ is a voluntary membership community for developing business leaders, creating opportunities for peer support, exchange of ideas and influence.
