Homelink US$30m housing project nears halfway mark

Homelink Properties says it has made significant progress on its US$30 million housing project located 28 kilometres from Harare’s central business district (CBD), near Lake Chivero.

Launched in September 2024, Homelink Estates is an expansive initiative aimed at delivering modern and affordable residential accommodation across Zimbabwe.

Homelink highlighted significant progress in phase 1 of the development.

“Phase 1 is now 40 percent complete,” stated the company, emphasising the substantial strides made in infrastructure development.

“Key achievements include the advancement of roadworks, currently 35 percent complete with major groundwork and gravel laying in progress,” the company said.

The water reticulation system is now 64 percent complete, with over 7 kilometres of pipelines already laid while the installation of drainage systems is also underway.

Homelink revealed plans to connect the estate directly to the City of Harare’s main water supply line, a strategic move aimed at ensuring consistent access to water for residents.

The infrastructure milestones have not only bolstered confidence among prospective buyers but have also sparked increased interest in stand sales within the development.

“We initially faced moderate sales as we introduced off-plan offerings of virgin land.

“However, as infrastructure progresses on-site, we anticipate a surge in demand in the upcoming months,” Homelink added, underscoring the correlation between visible development and market response.

Apart from the Homelink Estates project, Homelink Properties is diversifying its portfolio through several other residential developments across Zimbabwe.

Among these are Homelink Park in Bulawayo, located just 9km from the city centre and featuring ongoing infrastructure developments including tarred roads, water, and drainage systems.

Offering stands ranging from 2 000sq upwards, Homelink Park aims to provide spacious residential options priced between US$15 to US$19 per square metre, with flexible payment terms extending up to 24 months.

Meanwhile, Homelink Heights in Crowborough, Harare, introduces a contemporary living concept with its six blocks of three-storey flats, featuring modern two-bedroom apartments.

With some blocks already sold out, the development promises secure gated living, ample parking, and recreational amenities designed for family-friendly environments.

Further expanding its reach, the company said: “We are set to launch the Bushmead Housing Project near Masvingo, offering agro-residential stands priced attractively at US$12 per sqm inclusive of VAT.

“This project underscores our commitment to catering to diverse housing needs across different regions of Zimbabwe.”

Looking ahead, Homelink is poised for continued growth with plans to unveil a major housing project at St. Ives in Chinhoyi, featuring 809 stands.

“Our future developments are aligned with our mission to provide high-quality, affordable housing solutions,” affirmed the company.

“Each project is meticulously planned to enhance community development and deliver long-term investment value,” Homelink Properties said, stressing its dedication to fostering sustainable communities through robust infrastructure and accessible housing options.-herald
