GB Holdings appoints Gunda as MD
ZIMBABWE Stock Exchange-listed firm, GB Holdings Ltd, has appointed business executive Joseph Gunda as its new managing director.
Gunda replaces Wilboard Tsuroh who left the group after a 19-year stint at the helm.
The appointment is with effect from July 1, GB said in a statement released last week.
Gunda is a seasoned business leader with over 33 years of industrial experience. Prior to the appointment, Gunda was general manager of General Beltings, the flagship division of GB Holdings, for 13 years.
“He has a distinguished career spanning various blue-chip companies in Zimbabwe, including Saltrama Plastex, Zimbabwe Sugar Refineries, Chemplex Cooperation and Clay Products, where he rose through the ranks,” GB said.
A holder of a bachelor of Technology degree in Applied Chemistry and Chemical Technology and an MBA, both from the University of Zimbabwe, Gunda held various key positions at the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries, including chamber president for Matabeleland. He is the national vice president of the country’s largest industrialists body.
Meanwhile, GB has appointed Tichaona Mabeza as its chairperson.
Mabeza takes over from Godfrey Nhemachena who retired after serving as the board chairperson for nearly 20 years.
In a statement, GB said Mabaeza who is an accomplished professional with over 30 years experience is also a board member of some of the group’s subsidiary entities and is chairman of the group’s Pension Fund.-newsda
