FIRST Mutual Holdings has expanded its healthcare network by opening a new medical facility in Southerton, Harare to help boost medical tourism and provide accessible healthcare in the country.

This brings the total number of First Mutual’s medical facilities countrywide to 14.

Speaking at the launch on Wednesday, Harare Provincial Affairs minister of State, Charles Tavengwa, who was represented by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Cosmas Chiringa, commended First Mutual.

“This is a remarkable narrative of resilience, innovation and unwavering commitment in healthcare excellence. The business has been driven by the passion for quality patient care and extending its services to meet the needs of our communities,” Chirunga said.

“On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe, we are here to affirm our commitment and to encourage more facilities to be opened for improved access to healthcare by Zimbabweans,”

First Mutual’ s life and health cluster chief executive, Rueben Java said they are not only providing access to healthcare to Zimbabweans, but are also attracting medical tourists.

“We want to promote international medical tourism, beyond providing care for Zimbabweans, so that they don’t go out of the country to seek medical attention,” Java said.-newsday
