Finance ministry/ZIDA summit to showcase the various investment opportunities
THE Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion and the Zimbabwe Investment Development Agency (ZIDA) are set to host an investment summit in South Africa in May to showcase the various investment opportunities available in Zimbabwe.
In a statement, organizers of the summit, Invest in Zimbabwe said the summit will run under the theme “People you can invest in.”
The summit will present investment opportunities from all sectors including mining, infrastructure development, agriculture, agri-processing, tourism and the information communication technology (ICT) sector.
“On 2nd and 3rd May, 2024 Zimbabwe Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, Professor Mthuli Ncube and Zida chief executive officer Mr Tafadzwa Chinamo will host an investment summit at the Radisson Hotel, Kempton Park, near OR Tambo International.
“We want to make sure that investors who wish to participate in the Zimbabwean economy get all the answers to their investment queries by the end of the summit,” said one of the organisers, Mr Colin Mackenzie.
Organisers said attendance to the investment summit is by invitation only and has attracted delegates from the regional and international investment community, multinationals and trade missions of the diplomatic sector.
In addition to the various ministers billed to make presentations on opportunities in mining, infrastructure, tourism and agriculture notable speakers will also include African Development Bank President Dr Akinwumi Adesina, and Mr Elias Magosi, Sadc executive secretary, among others.
Zimbabwe is endowed with a vast array of natural resources and the Second Republic has been calling upon both local and international investors to bring in their expertise and invest in different sectors of the country.
President Mnangagwa is on record saying Zimbabwe stood ready to welcome investors through ZIDA which offered seamless processes to register and do business.
He said there was an array of fiscal incentives that stood to benefit investors who chose to do business in Zimbabwe.
Strategic investments could also be granted National Project Status with the associated concessions. With the best weather on the planet, Zimbabwe is keen to play its part in global food security.
ZIDA is the Government’s investment promotion agency, responsible for facilitating domestic and foreign investment in the country. It offers incentives to investors and undertakes all that makes Zimbabwe a safe investment destination
