FBC targets diaspora

Banking firm, FBC Building Society (FBCBS), is tapping into the large diaspora market with its Diaspora Dream Saver account that allows Zimbabweans living outside the country to save towards their essential local needs.

Through this initiative, Zimbabweans in the diaspora can save towards procuring residential properties among others.

This comes as mortgage lenders in the country are also paying attention to the diaspora for mortgages which offers currency stability during volatile conditions.

“The Diaspora Savings Scheme is exclusive to Zimbabweans in the diaspora, who will realise the following benefits; value preservation -clients will have total control of their funds; security — the account can be used as security; access to FBC Building Society housing project mortgages and making dreams come true.

“The customers can access their accounts through internet banking and can apply for accounts by completing digital forms on the FBC website or through electronic mail,” said FBCBS chairman Ben Kumalo at the official launch of the Fontaine Ridge Housing project in Kuwadzana, Harare recently.

Already, the Fontaine Ridge Housing project which seeks to deliver over 800 houses to the market has attracted the interests of local, regional and diaspora market as the ultimate, state-of-the art and affordable housing scheme for investors requiring residential accommodation.

Over the past decade, FBCBS has developed over 2000 houses for various markets across the country.

“FBC Building Society is proud to have stepped in as a responsible corporate citizen to assist towards reducing the national housing backlog in the country by constructing more than 2 000 housing units across different segments since 2009.

“The Building Society has also supported housing through the provision of mortgages and personal building loans.
