Ex-FCB boss takes over reins at Jamboo

FORMER chief executive officer (CEO) of First Capital Bank, Ciaran McSharry, has been appointed CEO of Jamboo, a digital solutions provider co-founded by Zimbabwean entrepreneur Takwana Tyaranini.

With a proven track record in the financial sector and a reputation for driving sustainable business profitability, McSharry brings a wealth of experience that will support the company to revolutionise digital banking and investment for the African Diaspora in the UK and Europe.

Jamboo, a new entrant into Zimbabwe’s latest enter the market later this year, aims to be at the forefront of digital innovation and McSharry will play a key role in the company’s mission to provide cutting-edge digital financial solutions tailored to the unique needs of the African diaspora community.

Mr Tyaranini told The Herald Finance & Business that having Mr McSharry on board was an important milestone for the organisation.

All customers will be able to send money in US dollars, British pounds, euros, Canadian dollars and more from the application. There will also be transparency around the cost of sending money as well as mid-market rates.

“The app will be launched for iOS and Android devices in the UK and EEA countries, with quick, easy and inclusive onboarding steps that take only a few minutes. Members will also receive a contactless Jamboo card,” Mr McSharry said.

Jamboo is the first-of-its-kind digital solutions company that provides banking and investment services to the African diaspora in the UK.

Mr Tyaranini, is a seasoned entrepreneur and rebellious marketer with close to a decade of experience.

Before founding Jamboo, Mr Tyaranini started and grew Senditoo, a London, UK-based startup that is involved in various industries including fast-moving consumer goods, remittances and mobile phone top-ups in over 100 countries.

His Senditoo brand has managed to move millions of dollars into Africa from mainly Europe and the globe despite having faced heated competition from multi-billion-dollar competitors and the same success is expected with the new Jamboo venture.-herald
