Emirates Temporarily Suspend Harare Flights

Emirates have temporarily suspended Harare flights with effect from the 13th to the 28th of February citing operational reasons.

The airline also cancelled flights to and from South Africa until 28 February following South Africa’s ban on travels to and from the country to curb the coronavirus. In a statement, Emirates said:

Temporary Suspension of EK flights to/from Harare

Dear Trade Partners

Emirates flights to/from Harare, a linked service with Lusaka, will temporarily be suspended from 13 February to 28 February 2021 due to operational reasons.

Flights to/from Lusaka will continue to operate as four weekly services. Customers holding tickets with final destination Harare will lig, be accepted for travel at their point of origin. Emirates regrets any inconvenience caused. Affected customers are advised to contact their travel agent or Emirates contact centre for rebooking options.

This comes as RwandAir had also cancelled Harare flights citing fears over the new and aggressive coronavirus variant.

The variant was first detected in South Africa and is feared it might have entered Zimbabwe between December and January.

Transport and tourism are some of the sectors that were hard-hit by the coronavirus pandemic.-pindula
