Chicken Slice pays tribute to Matebeleland customers for support
CHICKEN Slice, one of the country’s fastest growing fast food outlets, has applauded the support it receives from Matabeleland, which has inspired the business to open more branches in the region.
Yesterday, the outlets customers in Bulawayo were treated to a pleasant surprise with the appearance of the company
s brand ambassadors, musician, Freeman, also known as “HKD Boss” and comedian Leroy Zaware, widely recognised as “Comic Elder”.

Freeman, born Emegy Sylvester Chizanga, is a prominent figure in the Zimdancehall music scene, with a strong following across Zimbabwe. His partnership with Chicken Slice reflects the brand’s desire to associate with a high-profile figure to maintain its status.
Chicken Slice marketing manager, Ms Brenda Barare, praised people from the region for their unwavering support.
“We are thrilled by the response from Bulawayo as the support here has been incredible. This motivated us to open two additional branches in the city last year,” she said, adding that the company plans to open even more outlets in the region.
Ms Barare also highlighted Chicken Slice’s commitment to supporting local farmers, as the chain sources 100 percent organic produce, free from genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
“By supporting Chicken Slice, customers are also supporting local agriculture. We are proud to contribute to the local economy and thank everyone who has supported us,” she said.
Freeman and his team’s promotional tour began in Mvuma, continued to Masvingo,and reached Bulawayo on Tuesday.
Speaking to Chronicle at the Chicken Slice branch at corner 9th Avenue and Fort Street in Bulawayo, Freeman praised the warm reception he received from locals.
“We started in Mvuma, then Masvingo and now, we’re here in Bulawayo. The love for Chicken Slice is overwhelming. People are not only embracing the brand but also enjoying seeing their ambassador,” he said.
Freeman expressed his satisfaction with the partnership, noting the steady increase in business since he joined the company.
“Since we started working together, things have been going great. The turnover is rising every day and we’re seeing real growth.
I hope Chicken Slice will expand to every corner of the country and even internationally,” he said.
He also highlighted recent additions to the menu, including new pizzas such as BBQ Chicken and Club Cheese, which aim to delight customers.
Freeman emphasised the company’s commitment to treating customers as “bosses,” frequently introducing new products and running promotions like “Wangu Wednesday,” where customers enjoy additional chicken peace and chips on their two piecer meal on Wednesdays.

He said his ultimate hope is to see Chicken Slice becoming a household name, not only across Zimbabwe but internationally.
“I want Chicken Slice to be everywhere, even in rural areas, and I wish and hope it soon expands beyond Zimbabwe,” he affirmed.
The brand’s success in the competitive fast-food industry, has been impressive. Freeman acknowledged the challenge but was optimistic about Chicken Slice’s future.
“It’s not easy competing with big brands, but we are cruising nicely. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved,” he said.
The scenes in Bulawayo were lively, as fans clamoured for photos with Freeman and Comic Elder, while others recreated skits from their comedic routines. The event was a mix of fan adoration and spontaneous shopping, as the public’s love for both the brand and its ambassadors led to increased impulse purchases.-chroncle
