Capital Market Awards 2023 set for November

Business Weekly in partnership with Financial Markets Indaba (FMI) will on the 10th of November 2023, host the 2023 Capital Markets Awards, an investment platform and a landmark recognition programme to benchmark institutional achievement and performance in the markets & exchanges landscape of Zimbabwe’s Financial Sector.

Speaking ahead of the ceremony, Business Weekly Editor Herbert Zharare said “After hosting the National Capital Market High School Quiz, we are going to close the year with Capital Market Awards in November.

“These two events are now permanent features on our calendar and every year we are duty-bound to facilitate a process to honour institutions and individuals who contributed immensely towards the growth of the robust capital market we have today.

These events are capital intensive and I would like to take this opportunity to inform individuals and corporations that our doors are still open for sponsorship and partnership,” he said.

The Capital Markets Awards’ main objective is to recognise excellence in institutions and individuals that demonstrate a superior business strategy based on strong underlying fundamentals, highlighting emerging best practices in establishing robust market structures and identifying challenges in executing sound operational processes which market participants can both learn and benefit from.

FMI Managing Director Patrick Muzundo said the award ceremony serves as a catalyst for the ongoing evolution in the financial markets which brings together a diverse audience and stimulates advancements in the capital markets ecosystem.

“The awards ceremony is more than just an evening of recognition; it’s also a catalyst for the ongoing evolution of the sector fostering collaboration and innovation.

“The event brings together a diverse audience including financial leaders, investors, regulators, and industry experts. By providing a platform for these stakeholders to exchange ideas, share insights, and discuss emerging trends, the awards ceremony contributes to the advancement of the capital markets ecosystem as a whole,” he said.

“Hosting the Capital Markets Awards is a prestigious endeavor that brings together key players from the financial sector to celebrate outstanding achievements and contributions. The event serves as a platform to recognize and honor individuals, firms, and institutions that have displayed exceptional leadership, innovation, and impact within the capital markets arena. ,” said Mr Muzundo.

He also gave assurance in terms of even-handedness and honesty citing that various scorecards are published for all awards categories as a way of showing transparency in the whole process.

“As organisers we are dedicated to transparency and fairness which is evidenced through the various scorecards that we publish for all awards categories. The adjudication process strives to be fair, objective, and consistent.

“The exact methodology differs from one award category to another, depending on the award’s purpose, scope, and the organization behind it,” said Mr Muzundo.

Last year, stockbroking firm Morgan&Co dominated the 2022 Capital Market Awards scooping the Best Research Provider Award and the Best StockBroker Firm of The Year Award while its co-founder and stockbroker Davide Muchengi won the Best Individual Stockbroker of The Year Award.-ebusinessweekly
