Busisa Moyo to grace UK-Zim Business Expo

ZIMBABWE Investment and Development Agency (Zida) chairman, Mr Busisa Moyo, says he will take advantage of the forthcoming UK-Zimbabwe Business Expo, to speak to potential investors on the vast opportunities that are available in Zimbabwe.

The business expo, which is being organised by the Zimbabweans in Diaspora Organisation (Zido) in collaboration with Vaka/Ekhaya, will be held on the fifth of next month at Bethel Convention Centre in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

“I will be highlighting the diverse and practical compendium of opportunities that Zida is currently profiling and the matchmaking platform that is starting to gain momentum,” said Mr Moyo.

“The opportunities sit both in private sector, public sector as well as public private partnerships. “We will point to investments that are in our database that our executive team has compiled and uplift to a few ‘hot’ opportunities in various sectors, so potentials can digest and perhaps get to the point where they ask ‘can you show me more’, leading to follow up visits and actually walking the floor regarding some of the opportunities, leading to establishment or partnership,” Mr Moyo said.

This comes as there are a number of misconceptions about the country’s investment landscape. Zida has been at the forefront of Zimbabwe’s investment promotion efforts, working to position the country as a prime destination for both local and international investors

“It’s true that there is gap and reality when it comes to opportunities in Zimbabwe but for the discerning investor there are early-stage investment opportunities, opportunities linked to foreign markets in the resource and agriculture spaces, opportunities in renewable energy, traditional industries like tourism, mining and manufacturing,” said Mr Moyo.

“Indeed, multinationals are taking advantage of these gaping opportunities and the Diaspora has the opportunity of participating.”

Meanwhile, Zido chief executive, Blessed Kapesa has reiterated that the expo will highlight the key investment opportunities that are offered in the country.

“Market research shows that Zimbabweans based outside the country are eager to explore investment opportunities in the country, but lack the relevant information key for them to embark on this exercise. “The UK-Zimbabwe Business Expo will help them to ask and get answers on key questions that they have about investment opportunities and processes in the country,” Kapesa said.
