Bravura acquires core drilling rigs

BRAVURA Zimbabwe (Pvt) Limited, which is developing a platinum project in Mashonaland West Province has secured in-house owned core drilling rigs worth close to US$5 million.

Already, the platinum miner has done close to 40 000 metres of drilling.
In a statement, Bravura country director Mr Lionel Mhlanga said his organisation has completed phase one and two of resource confirmation.

“Nearly 40 000 meters of core drilling done. In house owned core drilling rigs acquired at a cost of nearly US$5 million,” he said.

“High tech exploration laboratory was acquired, installed and commissioned at a cost of US$500 000.”
The platinum miner employs nearly 200 people directly and subcontractors labour force.

Since inception, the mine has not recorded lost time injury or fatality.
Anchored by US$1 billion capital injection into the platinum project, Bravura in 2019 signed a platinum mining project with the Government.

Mines and Mining Development Minister Winston Chitando is on record saying the Government is impressed by the work that Bravura was doing and optimism is high that the project would be on time to feed into the US$12 billion milestone by 2023.

Under the US$12 billion mining economy by 2023, platinum is expected to contribute US$3 billion annually and the Bravura project is key to the Government’s mining strategy.

Meanwhile, Bravura has expressed gratitude to the traditional leadership in Mhondoro for their hospitality saying the gesture fosters a peaceful work environment.

As part of ensuing its corporate social responsibility initiative, the company has brought festive season cheers to 30 villages in Mhondoro over the weekend by donating food hampers worth $3,8 million.

“We provided for 400 families in Selous area and 100 extra in our mining province of
Mashonaland West for the most vulnerable families elsewhere,” said Mr Mhlanga.
The gesture comes as the platinum miner has also assisted vulnerable families in
Mashonaland West to mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Last year, the mining company donated ambulance and ventilators to the Ministry of
Health and Child Care. – The Chronicle
