WIZ appoints new leadership
THE Women in Insurance in Zimbabwe (WIZ) has elected FBC Insurance managing director Alice Shumba as its president, a position she will hold till 2026.
Shumba, who is taking over from Ruth Ncube, will be deputised by Emeritus Reinsurance head–reassurance and underwriting (Life and Health), Clementine Chinyuku.
Shumba is coming in with a combined over 21 years of reinsurance and broking experience.
She has, for the past four years, been a WIZ executive committee member in charge of promoting and challenging the next generation of insurance women to strive to be the best version of them and be confident enough to take up leadership roles in the industry.
She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Insurance, Risk Management and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and an Advanced Diploma in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute UK.
Chinyuku has over 20 years experience in life assurance and reassurance.
Before her appointment, she was also a WIZ executive member, a member of the Life Offices Association Board and a Credsure Health non-executive member.
Chinyuku holds an LLB-Laws Degree from the University of South Africa and a Masters’ Degree in Risk and Insurance from the National University of Science and Technology Zimbabwe.
She is also a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of South Africa and is an experienced trainer in technical insurance, having conducted training at various institutes locally, regionally and internationally.
Meanwhile, the second vice-president Nelisha Chitsungo is coming in with vast experience in human resource management. She has a demonstrated history of working in the financial services industry and human resources advisory services.
Passionate about implementing talent management solutions and total employee wellness initiatives in order to drive productivity and business growth, Chitsungo holds an MBA from University of Gloucestershire and degree in industrial and organisational psychology from University Of South Africa.-newsday
