CBZ senior executives retire
CBZ Holdings, the country’s leading financial products and services provider has announced the retirement of chairman of the Board of Directors and Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr Marc Holtzman and Dr Blessing Mudavanhu respectively.
Both are retiring on 31 December but have taken leave effective December 1.
In a notice on Wednesday, the group said Mr Luxon Zembe has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director and Acting Chairman of the Company, effective from 1 December 2023.
On the other hand, Mr Lawrence Nyazema has been appointed as Acting Group Chief Executive Officer with effect from December 1.
He is the Managing Director of CBZ Bank Limited, a position he took up on January 1 2022.
The notice said during his tenure as chairman, Mr Holtzman “served with distinction and showed strong leadership as he steered the Company and Group on a clear growth trajectory.
Mr Zembe is a highly experienced business management consultant with over 30 years of expertise in Corporate Governance and Strategic Planning across various sectors.
Dr Mudavanhu has over 20 years of experience in regional and international financial services organizations and was key in driving the Company’s growth strategy headlined by the successful acquisition of a significant shareholding in a leading, publicly listed insurance group.
“His leadership was instrumental in restoring the Company’s brand and reputation, the momentum of which will no doubt continue into the future,” the bank said.
Mr Nyazema joined CBZ Bank as Executive Director – Wholesale Banking in January 2020.
Prior to that, he spent 19 years with Barclays Bank (now First Capital Bank) in various capacities including being Commercial Director from 1 April 2011 to January 2020 when he joined CBZ Bank.
He also spent 10 years at ZB Financial Holdings.-chronicle
