Mine Entra exhibitors show interest in Bulawayo

A section of exhibitors at the just-ended Mine Entra expo are considering opening branches in Bulawayo to supply the southern region with an assortment of mining equipment due to the high interest shown in their products.

The southern region has several mineral deposits and heightened mining activities which require a constant supply of consumables.

It is against this background that suppliers of mining equipment have seen an opportunity to establish outlets in Bulawayo where their wares will be available for the miners in the region.

A representative of MegaBreee, a supplier of Personal protective equipment (PPE) and welding equipment, Mr Thulani Mvengere told Business Chronicle that due to the interest shown in their products during the exhibition, they are considering opening a new branch in Bulawayo to service the region.

He said the provision of safety clothing and equipment is in line with President Mnangagwa’s Responsible Mining Audit Initiative where safety is one aspect that needs intervention.
“During Mine Entra, we received a considerable number of inquiries for our products. This made us realise the need to open a branch in Bulawayo.

“We will take it upon ourselves to establish a branch in Bulawayo by the end of the year and hopefully by the time of the next Mine Entra, we will have a fully operational branch in Bulawayo,” said Mr Mvengere.

He added that the Government is advocating for responsible mining and safety is one aspect that needs attention in a bid to reduce mining-related incidences, especially in the artisanal and small-scale sectors.

In May this year, President Mnangagwa presided over the launch of the Responsible Mining Audit Initiative, which is meant to increase oversight over all mining activities in the country and condone malpractices in the mining sector.

The mining sector is central to the attainment of the country’s Vision to become an upper-middle-class economy by 2030.

With the support from local producers and suppliers, the Government will make strides in the implementation of the Responsible Mining Audit Initiatives. —chronicle
