ZNCC partners ZimTrade to market Matabeleland businesses
The Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) is partnering with ZimTrade to identify more conducive and lucrative markets for businesses in Matabeleland. ZNCC Matabeleland region chairperson Mr Mackenzie Dongo told Business Chronicle that businesses in the region have a role to play in stimulating the country’s economic growth hence the need to expose them to lucrative markets.
“There is a lot of activity taking place in the region and as per our annual theme, we will be working very closely with ZimTrade in a bid to identify markets and opportunities for businesses from this region,” said Mr Dongo.

Speaking at the annual regional awards held in Bulawayo on Friday, Mr Dongo said the region has great potential for economic growth and efforts should therefore be directed at finding markets for products being produced.
More than 40 companies and 16 businesspersons from the Matabeleland region scooped prizes at the annual regional awards ceremony.
The awards were meant to honour businesses and individuals for their outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the economy in 2022.
There were prizes for the 20 different categories and winners walked away with certificates and shields.
The lifetime achievement award was scooped by Jasbro, Hassamals and Jairos Jiri Association
The public entrepreneurship of the year award went to TelOne with Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) being the first runner-up and Zimbabwe National Road Administration and Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe being second runner-ups.
The National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Lupane State University and Joshua Mqabuko Polytechnic College won the tertiary institutions of the year accolades.
Winners in the businesswoman of the year category were Quinn Sowa of Rugare Medical and the runners-up were Dr Annah Muleya of Lanaheil Investments and Victoria Gazi of Samson Bricks.

Bekezela Moyo from Carrymine Complex was the businessman of the year. The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair chief executive officer, Dr Nick Ndebele was the manager of the year while the first runner up was Mr Nqobile Ncube of Zimborders and Mr Chiku Mulinde of Elephant Hills Hotel was the second runner-up.
Other winners were also crowned in categories that include best financial institution supporting SMEs, best customer service-centred organisation, the best-emerging business of the year, innovation of the year and young entrepreneur of the year amongst others.

Commenting on the awards, Mr Dongo said: “This was an engagement of business executives in a bid to recognise and acknowledge business excellence in Matabeleland region for the 2022 calendar year.”
