Mine Entra dates announced

THE Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Company has released dates for the 25th edition of the Mining, Engineering and Transport exhibition slated for early next month in Bulawayo.

The specialised exhibition was last year held virtually on account of the Covid-19 pandemic, which saw the trade fair in the same year being cancelled and suspended twice this year before it was held last month.

The ZITF Company said this year’s Mine Entra will be held from November 3 to 5. The event provides a platform for players in the mining, engineering and transport sectors to engage in productive discussions for the creation of an enabling environment for the growth and development of the mining industry.

The expo will help to explore, extract, expand and sharing of mining visions through Women in Mining Conference and the Young Professionals Forum which will highlight opportunities for both women and youths

It will also include the display of mining equipment, chemicals and protective clothes as well as insurance and security services which are needed by miners.

Mine Entra started the digitalised journey last year when a virtual conference was held to allow the expo to proceed in the midst of the pandemic.

The mining industry is one of Zimbabwe’s economic mainstays with the sector presently contributing about 70 percent of the country’s foreign currency earnings.

The Second Republic has come up with a US$12 billion mining industry roadmap by 2023 with the gold sector expected to generate US$4 billion, platinum US$3 billion and chrome, iron, steel, diamond and coal contributing US$1 billion.

Lithium is expected to contribute US$500 million while other minerals will contribute US$1,5 billion.
Mining houses undertaking various projects towards the achievement of the target have also been identified while negotiations with others are in progress.

Government expects that by 2030, the mining sector will be generating an upwards of US$20 billion.-The Chronicle
