African Sun supports sports tourism

To play a significant and visible role in the tourism sector besides offering accommodation and transfer facilities, ASL is currently running an exciting “Rediscover Zimbabwe” campaign in line with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority’s ZimBho campaign.

Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu recently launched tourism month festivities in style with a press conference in the Rainforest, with emphasis on the need for tourism players to embrace inclusivity towards business revival.

World Tourism Day is celebrated annually and the month of September is tourism month, under the auspices of the World Tourism Organisation. The national tourism day celebrations will be held at Paradise Pools Resort, Bindura,
Mashonaland Central province under the theme: “Tourism for inclusive growth.”

On offer in this campaign are highly discounted rates applicable to the domestic market encouraging all Zimbabweans to travel, experience, explore and enjoy.

The leading hotelier has joined a number of other players to support sports tourism in the country and was one of the sponsors for an inaugural event that happened in Victoria Falls over the weekend.

The Victoria Falls Sports Tourism Festival comprised golf, tennis, mountain biking and marathon. This is the first of its kind and contributed immensely to the domestic tourism boost.

Hotels recorded significant bookings especially coming from a busy week where most were fully booked as the city hosted back-to-back conferences.
ASL’s participation at the inaugural event rubber stamps the need for promotion of sports tourism and making Zimbabwe and Victoria Falls a destination of choice for domestic and international travellers.

Sports Tourism Incorporation organised the inaugural event in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority and ZimParks and this has been one of the major events promoting the ZimBho #iZim Yami and #Vakatsha campaigns.
The only golf course in Victoria Falls, with 18 holes, is at one of ASL-Elephant Hills properties and has hosted locally, regional and international events.

The multiple wonders offered in the beautiful country range from the scenic Eastern Highlands, the tranquil Kariba Dam waters to the alluring Great Zimbabwe Monuments and Majestic Victoria Falls.

To ASL, the health and safety of guests, employees and their families and the nation at large is a priority.
