IPEC applauds funeral assurance sector for dignified send-offs
HARARE, INSURANCE industry regulator, IPEC has applauded the funeral assurance sector for the role they are playing in giving dignified send-offs loved ones even under difficult circumstances brought about by the Covid 19 pandemic.
Grace Muradzikwa, the Commissioner Insurance, Pension & Provident Funds, said the Commission, is in support of the initiative taken by Government to localize burials as a way of reducing the spread of Covid-19.
“As the regulator for the insurance industry, the Insurance and Pensions Commission would like to applaud the funeral assurance sector for the role they are playing in giving our loved ones dignified send-offs even under difficult circumstances,” she said.
She added, “We urge them to continue playing this important role ensuring that they comply with the guidelines that have been provided to avoid spreading the Coronavirus.”
Zimbabwe has witnessed a surge in Covid-19 cases since the festive season with 188 deaths having been recorded between 01 January 2021 and 12 January 2021.
According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, cumulatively, the country has recorded 23239 Covid-19 cases and 551 deaths as at 12 January 2021.
“We also urge all of us to be extra vigilant by complying with the World Health Organization and Ministry of Health and Child Care guidelines to ensure that we curb the spread of the Coronavirus,” Muradzikwa said.
She said it is our collective responsibility to defeat this invisible enemy. The regulator send its heartfelt condolences to those who have lost their loved ones to this pandemic and wish a speedy recovery to all those who have been infected.-Insurance24
